Convert gamma system server to virtual box vm

This is a work in progress...

I chose on this occasion to do this on my Mac with Virtualbox 7.0 and Acronis True Image 2016, but it makes little difference...

1). Setup a new virtual machine in Virtualbox as per usual, in this case Win XP 32 bit, 40Gb drive and 8 Gb of precious memories, 2 network cards, one enabled in bridged mode so that it gets an IP on my local subnet, the other not attached. Boot with Acronis and Add a new disk (the 40Gb disk created in VB). I chose MBR.

2). Put the tip backup file onto the network. I used an NFS share on Orion.

3). Boot the VM again with Acronis and choose to Recover, navigating to the NFS share.

4). Sit back and wait with a big ole mug of Java...

Following the above, this did not boot, resulting in a blue screen and a 0x0000007b error (see here), so I booted into Hiren's Boot CD 15.2 using Mini Windows XP option.

Once booted into the Win XP environment, START MENU > HBCD Menu and then once the small window opens, choose PROGRAMS, navigate to REGISTRY > FIX HARD DISK CONTROLLER (fix_hdc)

Use option T and select the windows directory, typically C:\Windows and choose option M

Then reboot the environment into the real windows xp vm.
