To setup a remote development environment in PHPstorm


First, setup the remote server as below and test the connection.

SEE NOTE 1 BELOW

Then adjust the mappings as below. the local path is where your local copies of the project live and if we click on the folder icon of the Deployment Path, we can choose and see exactly where our local files will be uploaded to.


Then edit or add a run/debug configuration as below;

Note the blue url is exactly where the files will be viewed from. We can click on this to test. (assuming the files are there of course).


The choose the add (+) option under Before Launch as below;


We of course wish to upload the files on run and below is the screen after choosing add (+) , where we can choose where the local files are uploaded to.


NOTE 1

The below are the only settings required to allow deploying on a remote server and may be all that is required.
