On the server, edit /etc/exports to something like;
/var/STORAGE 192.168.254.50/70(rw, insecure, subtree_check, root_squash)
- The above would mean an IP range of 192.168.254.50 to 192.168.254.70 with read and write access, its also worth noting that read only is ro.
- Also the insecure option was required when mounting from a Mac. (not sure of the implications of this actually).
- The root_squash means that any fie created by a root user won't have root group or ownership.
In Slackware, we are starting with /etc/rc.d/rc.nfsd start after making executable of course.
To mount the above from a client in the valid IP range, we would simply do;
mount 192.168.254.199:/var/STORAGE /media/nas
Where 192.168.254.199 is the server and /var/STORAGE is the share and /media/nas is the local point.
See here for more information (Slackware related)
