IRC revisited

See here and here for nick registration instructions for Freenode and Dalnet respectively.

If we get the following;

Error(432): "yourNick" The nick "yourNick" is currently being held by a Services Enforcer. If you are the nicks owner, use /msg NickServ@services.dal.net RELEASE "yourNick" password to release the nickname. If the nickname recently expired, please wait patiently and try again later.

We first need to login or connect with another nick, so we can use;

/nick altNick

then do;

/msg NickServ@services.dal.net RELEASE yourNick yourNickPassword

then simply change back to your own nick;

/nick yourNick

If we need to authenticate, then do;

/msg NickServ@services.dal.net IDENTIFY yourNickPassword

Channel registration

/ChanServ REGISTER (channel) (password) (description)

an example being;

/ChanServ REGISTER #myChannel channelPassword A description of my cool channel.

Applications

and of course;

Nick Registration

First make sure you are using the nick you wish to register, if not, login with an alternative and then do;

/nick yourNick
