Update Spamassassin
1) Using CPAN
cpan Mail::SpamAssassin
2) verify installation
spamassassin -V
3) Obtain Rules (see footnote)
Download:
Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-xxx.tgz
Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-xxx.tgz.asc
Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-xxx.tgz.md5
Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-xxx.tgz.sha1
Example:
wget Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-3.4.0.r1565117.tgz
wget Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-3.4.0.r1565117.tgz.asc
wget Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-3.4.0.r1565117.tgz.md5
wget Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-3.4.0.r1565117.tgz.sha1

4) Run Update/Install of Rules.
In Download folder:
curl -O http://spamassassin.apache.org/updates/GPG.KEY
sa-update --import GPG.KEY
sa-update --install Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-xxx.tgz
Example sa-update --install Mail-SpamAssassin-rules-3.4.0.r1565117.tgz
5) Check install
Look in /var/lib/spamassassin for new folder.
FOOTNOTE
sa-update does not seem to work, causes DNS errors/issues, the above bypasses this.
